First Leg of the 2011 Midwest Triple Crown Starts This Weekend

The 12thannual Ore to Shore is set to take place Saturday, August 13th in
beautiful Marquette, Michigan.
Ore to Shore is
the first of a "series of three races that has unofficially become known as
the "Midwest Triple Crown. The series of
races consists of three point-to-point events; The Ore to Shore Mountain Bike
Epic a 48-mile slog beginning in Negaunee and finishing in Marquette, MI near
the shoreline of Lake Superior. The
Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival, September 17th will take racers on
the 40-mile trek from Hayward to Cable,WI. Finally, to conclude the series, the Iceman Cometh Challenge, November 5th,
a 28-mile battle from Kalkaska to Traverse City, MI.
These large, mass
start races have grown over the years to include participants from all over the
country including Olympic Athletes, World Champions, National Champions, and
most notably local favorites to whom these races definitely mean the most

Mike Simonson, Brian Matter, Tristan Schoutan, Mike Anderson, TJ Woodruff,
Chris Peariso the Triple Crown has become the focal point of their season, and achieving
the coveted Triple Crown Victory is a major goal each year.

Over 2,000 racers
will line up for the start on Saturday including TJ Woodruff (Trek Bicycles
Boulder) who will be on hand to defend his 2010 title. Mike Simonson (Trek/RBS/NoTubes), three time
champion of the O2S, who has had great success in the National Ultra Endurance
series this year will surely be fighting for a win. Brian Matter (Gear Grinder/Trek) 2004 and
2009 winner, Tristan Schoutan, current WORS leader (Mafia/Felt), Mike Anderson
(Trek 29er/SRAM), Chris Peariso (Adventure 212/Specialized), Nathan Guerra (Mr.
Tree Racing/PowerBar), Tyler Gauthier (Culvers Racing), and Mike Phillips
(Adventure 212/Specialized) are always fierce competitors and will surely be
giving their all to take the top box and the $1,600 winners check.
Scott Tuma, (www.oretoshore.com) O2S race director has done an excellent job organizing this event over
